Ancient, rare nara BULUL statue, Ifugao, Philippines, 80-100 years old

Rare in this shape, this beautiful, ancient statue of the god of rice BULUL. The figure is seated on a head which symbolizes the strong bond with ancestors. The posture of the statue is nearly that of the classic Bulul, though with one arm slightly under the knee. Stylistically strong statue of Nara wood. A particularly heavy, hard type of wood, which was used to make Bulul statues before World War II. This is also a way of indicating the age of this exquisite statue. I bought it myself in situ from a museum of Mr Noël Balenga, just outside Banaue. Some shrinking cracks are visible, overall it is in good condition.
