Rice god BULUL with blood crust, IFUGAO, Philippines

Hardwood statue of the rice god BULUL, which plays an important role in Ifugao culture. Stylistically superb statue with a crusty patina of pig blood. This causes the colour of Nara wood to get through the patina here and there. The statue is in good condition.
