Old talisman/altar statue, Central or South India, mid 20th century

Old travel talisman but also an altar statue from the middle of the south of India. Statues like these were taken on a journey and ensured that the traveler did not encounter any disasters and returned home safely. These types of statues were also offered on the altars of smaller Hindu temples in central and southern India. Striking object! with obvious traces of use and age and also reasonably priced!
