Older ancestor statue of the CHAMBA, northern Nigeria, ca 1970

This earthy somewhat chunky decorative ancestor statue of the Chamba has a powerful presence. A heavy statue with a fantastic appearance! The slightly overhanging chest and broad shoulders give the image a lot of power. Arms and legs are slightly bent, the head is relatively small with raised small round eyes. The mouth is angular. There is some termite eating remains on this statue especially on the back. In my opinion, it has not affected the character of the statue. Look closely at the photos. The statue once stood on a base and some glue residues are still visible. Can probably be easily removed with some heating, but it is so stable on its own.
