Overview

Rare zoomorphic protection fetish of the EKOÏ tribe from the far south east of Nigeria. Human statue with animal head. The base is made of wood, which is then beautifully covered with antelope leather. On the head at the back an animal horn. Statues like these are supposed to protect against witchcraft and other threats and negative influences. The mouth is open with teeth in it, the eyes are made of glass. With minor traces of use and aging, this statue is in good condition.
