Old beautifully crafted wooden phurba, Nepal, before 1950

The wooden phurbas are believed to have a special power that can be used to remove obstacles and promote healing. They are often used in healing ceremonies and for protection against negative energy. This is a beautiful and old copy. On top of an elephant that symbolizes patience, strength, knowledge and wisdom and also symbolizes the unity of everything. Three heads are carved under the elephant. Below that an entanglement of lines with an edge in between. A strip of cloth is also wrapped around this. The nib, which consists of three parts, shows floral motifs on one side, quite abstract, and on the other two, animal motifs seem visible. Three different animal heads are visible on top of the sides. Warm medium brown patina appropriate to the age. Good condition and mounted on a custom metal stand.
