Wooden ancestor statue, LOSSO, Togo, 2nd half 20th century
OverviewWooden ancestor statue of the LOSSO from Togo. Eye-catching abstract statue. Cylindrical body with a few geometric figurations that indicate the exact sub-stem for the expert. The head is relatively small and flat with a rounded top. Nose, mouth and eyes are minimalist. The legs are short, set wide apart and have no upper or lower leg or feet. They end in a platform. A piece of the platform is glued and a chip at the back is missing. A previous owner probably rubbed the statue with some kind of wax. Varied patina, hard wooden statue. See the pictures.
