Overview

Now quite rare...

Very penetrating/expressive mask!

Mushroom masks use the natural form of tree parasitic fungi with minimal modifications. Only the openings of the mouth and eyes as well as the nose are the work of the sculptor. They are rarely worn by dancers, but more commonly hung in the home where they take on a beautiful black patina of soot. This one is so old that the soot smell is no longer present. The natural shape has been beautifully followed and with minimal adjustments this is a sharp and very strong mask! It is formed from the Lingzhi mushroom (Ganoderma Lucidem). Masks like these are hung in the house and are supposed to protect the residents against evil spirits. Also against the spirits responsible for the suddenly rising fog in the Himalayan mountains, the area where these people live. They are only found in eastern Nepal and are quite rare. This special mask is in good condition and has a great appearance!
