Tribal necklace, priest collar, PALANPAGANG, Ifugao, Philippines
OverviewTribal necklace called Palanpagang. It is a priest collar, always composed of sometimes large pieces of mother-of-pearl. This necklace has seven large finely crafted pieces of mother-of-pearl. These necklaces are worn by men from the Ifugao tribe and from the Kalinga tribe. The mother-of-pearl pieces show different colors depending on the angle from which you look at them. Difficult to photograph. Much nicer in real life!! The mother-of-pearl pieces are sometimes unworked; others carry a single line of fine engraving or multiple lines of very fine engraving like this one. The cord is made of braided rattan. This necklace is in great condition and comes with a beautiful professional custom made stand! Authentic object but just as beautiful as decoration.
