Rare mask made of tree root, Nepal

Spectacular mask made from an old tree root. Very rare and beautiful object! Large, heavy and mounted on a custom-made stand. It is a huge job to dig out a root from an old tree. The organic structure of the root is now the mask with minimal interventions. This is mainly the making of the eyes. Very expressive object with a beautiful varied structure in the patina. (In a gallery in Paris, such a mask (less beautiful than this one, I heard) is offered for € 1750.00) Rare object and an absolutely special asset for the collector of ethnographics in particular, Nepalese.
