Old rattle from the PENDE, DR Congo, mid 20th century

Beautiful old slender object, this children's rattle from the Pende from the DR Congo. The calabash that is rubbed up and down and which then makes a sound over the ridges may have already been replaced. The object is neatly mounted on a custom-made metal stand. Good used condition!
