Large decorated mask, Nepal, ca 1970

Beautiful, large decorated mask. What is striking are the two birds at the top that resemble the guneko objects used at a wedding and serve to tie together the gifts received. They symbolize loyalty and harmony, as is also the case on this mask. Furthermore, the eyes, eyebrows and mustache are finely detailed. The whole has a particularly positive appearance.
