Ceremonial staff, KUBA, DR Congo, 1940-50

Kuba culture is known for its rich artistic traditions, including beautiful wood carvings, textile arts (such as kuba cloths), and complex ritual masks. Beautiful authentic object, this old ceremonial staff. On top a finely carved figure and underneath in various "layers" pieces with geometrically worked patterns as we know from the famous woven Kuba cloths. A leather strap with copper buttons on approximately 2/3 and a piece of metal on the lower part. Beautiful deep patina matching its age, some signs of wear but overall in good condition! and neatly placed on a custom-made stand.
