OverviewAuthentic intensively used lip dish from the Mursi from Ethiopia These dishes are carried by women of the Mursi and Suri tribe. It is a round disk of clay or wood that is placed in the lower or upper lip to stretch the lip. Each time a larger disc is placed, the hole in the lip becomes larger and larger. This is a particularly beautiful example made of sun-dried clay and worked on both sides! The larger the dish, the larger the dowry for the woman.
