Extremely rare! Guardian statue with trishula, Bhutan border area
OverviewExtremely rare object this guardian statue with a trident, trishula on top. Very occasionally you find them with an iron trident attached to it but this is a statue carved from one piece of wood with a wooden trishula. A trishula is a trident that symbolizes divinity. In Hindu mythology it was characteristic of the god Shiva, but the goddess Durga also often carries the trident. This guardian statue with trident is called a "dhauliya" and was placed in the niche of a house or on the roof. The last photo shows such a statue with iron trishula on a roof. It was then placed on a roof of a chief. Clear tear and weather .. influences of weather and age. I dare not put an age on it but it is not that important. I had the statue placed on a custom-made stand that is of course included. I saw many hundreds of Namaskara Mudra greeting statues and guardian statues but never one like this!
