Great & Rare, BANDA/YANDA disease statue, DR Congo, 1900-1920

Rare and old tribal used disease statue of the Banda/Yanda tribe from the DR Congo. Beautiful stylized statue with a great appearance! Glass paste beads as eyes and an emulsion of tree pulp which gives the ochre color. This emulsion is also used to make make up and to dye clothes. The white dots refer to the character of the statue, namely a disease statue. Intended for healing and protection against diseases. The dots are made of kaolin. The statue has undoubtedly been in the possession of someone with a high status in the tribe and it is in a very good condition. An object of museum quality...
